Summer Seduction Blog Hop and Giveaway

I like to spend my summer days relaxing by the pool with a sexy, steamy book and I can tell you, I've read some good ones this year. Although I write mostly kink, I read anything and everything. What can I say? I like variety. I thought I'd share a few of my favorite summer reads.

If you haven't read the Alpha and Omega series by Aline Hunter, you are missing out. Ms. Hunter's heroes are hot and possessive, her heroines are sassy and smart and her plots are twisty and complicated. Needless to say, I adore this series.

Ballet and dominance, what's not to like? No one writes kink quite like Annabel Joseph. I love the way she crafts flawed, realistic characters. This story is tender and poignant with enough edge to satisfy my kinky heart.

I'm so glad I discovered this series over the summer. It's sexy and fun. The men are hot, the women feisty and world-building is so clever.  I love that Lolita Lopez wove bdsm into the alien culture. It's very reminiscent of the books I read years ago when I first got into erotic romance.

So now that I've shared a few of my favorite summer reads with you, I'd like you to share with me. To enter my International contest and win a $10 Amazon GC, all you have to do is comment here at my blog and tell me your favorite reads from this summer. It can be anything, any genre, whatever grabbed you and left you breathless or smiling or whatever.

After you're done here, check out the rest of the Summer Seduction Blog Hop hosted by Silken Sheets & Seduction. The list of authors participating is wonderful and varied. They are giving away a digital book bundle that includes my latest release A Firm Hand. To enter the big Blog Hop Giveaway, use the Rafflecopter form below.

Coffee of the Day: Coconut
Just Read: Deep Desires by Charlotte Stein
On Deck: Of Beast and Beauty by Stacey Jay
An Appetite for Murder by Lucy Burdette
                Warlord Unarmed by Cynthia Sax
Writing: Bait and Switch
Recipe of the Week: Clean eating chocolate chip cookie dough cake
Waiting for: Catching Fire (it cannot come fast enough)

Busy this week. I'm trying to get prepared for school to begin. We have two weeks left and I haven't done any shopping. Nothing like waiting until the last minute. That's me, procrastinator extraordinaire. I've written a few pages this in Bait and Switch so I haven't been entirely unproductive on the writing front. I've also had a few brainstorming sessions with one of my crit partners *cough* Aline Hunter *cough*. Great stuff coming from her in the next few months. Have you seen her new cover?

Holy hotness, right? The book is a good one, too. Her fans are going to love it.

As for me, on the personal front, I've started a very rigorous new training routine with a detailed eating plan. It's kicking my ass. I am so sore it hurts to move. It's a good hurt though. Means it's working! I'm also cheering on my brother's beautiful girlfriend, Angelica Kathleen, who is currently training for WBFF World's Las Vegas. So proud of her!

I'm going to try and enjoy the last few days of summer we have left because after that it's all grind. Bait and Switch is due by the end of the year so I need to get my butt writing! Have a good week everyone and check out the latest review for A Firm Hand.  It's a Night Owl Top Pick

Of Beast and Beauty by Stacey Jay
                Frankendom by Robin L Rotham
Writing: Bait and Switch
Recipe of the Week: Cilantro Lime Chicken Skewers
Shut up and take my money! Star Wars Death Star Tea Infuser
Movie Madness: SyFy Original Movies

Happy Hump Day. I am finally starting to get over this nasty virus I've had for the last week. Nothing like a summer cold to throw everything out of whack. To be honest, I haven't written anything in days. I've been resting and marathoning through SyFy Original movies. Yes, it was spurred on by the cinematic masterpiece known as Sharknado. This week's gems included Arachnoquake, Sharktopus and Jersey Shore Shark Attack. I'm officially cheesed out, feeling better and ready to get back to work.

I've been contemplating what to do after I finish the next two books in the Bound to You series and I've decided to take a small break from BDSM and work on something in the paranormal realm. Should be fun even if that's a ways off yet. I need to finish Jared and Sophia's story as well as the fourth book which I'm happy to announce will be Ivy's book. As of now, I don't have anymore stories planned for the series. That may change though. I'll keep you updated.

In other news, Shari over at Delighted reader posted this awesome review of A Firm Hand.

Theme Thursday - Tattoos

I don't know about you, but I love a hero with tattoos. There is just something about a man all inked up that gets me hot and bothered. Today I thought I'd feature some of my favorite fictional men with ink. Oh and a yummy link for those who have tastes similar to mine

Fantasy becomes reality if you carry the mark...
Chloe Bryant doesn’t know what to expect when she enters The Wolf’s Den. Drawn to the werewolf tattoo parlor for reasons she can’t explain, she soon discovers the sexy man from her dreams isn’t a figment of her imagination. Not only is Jackson Donovan real, but he explains the dreams they shared are due to their destined mating. It can’t be possible. She’s not a werewolf. Even if he swears the mark on her wrist indicates otherwise.
Jackson is stunned to discover the beautiful minx from his dreams isn’t a full-blooded werewolf but a Halfling. The only way to uncover Chloe’s past is to stake a claim to her future. By taking the delectable female into his bed, he’ll unlock every secret she has to hide -- as well as awaken the passion she’s tucked away for too long -- by exploring her mind, body and soul one sweet inch at a time.

Trouble in the Making by Lissa Matthews

Johnny Trouble. He’s a commanding presence in leather and tattoos, both on stage and off. He’s had more than his fair share of groupies and lovers, but it’s time for a change and he reconnects with the one woman whose memory has driven him crazy since high school. Liz.
She’s a quiet, shy romance author who likes her comfort zones. But when Johnny comes back into her life after years of living in the spotlight, Liz’s private fantasies shift into overdrive and she nervously asks him to fulfill them.
Just one weekend is all she proposes, but the sparks flying between them when Johnny touches her aren’t temporary. She’s the particular brand of trouble he wants in his bed, bent over, or crawling all over him. Forever.
He just has to convince her by any means necessary…

Coffee Talk

Coffee of the day: Vanilla Biscotti
Just Read: Waking Kiss by Annabel Joseph
On Deck: Changed by Aline Hunter
Grabbed by Vicious by Lolita Lopez
                Camilla's Consequences by Helena Harker
Writing: Bait and Switch
Current TV Obsession: Teen Wolf (don't laugh!)
Recipe of the Week: Tiramisu Pancakes

Coffee in hand, I'm attempting to plan out my week. Summer is always a difficult time for me as an author. I have the kids at home and finding time to write is never an easy task. Right now I'm outlining Bait and Switch, Jared and Sophia's story. This one is going to be fun, but will require some seriously creative thinking. With both of them being Dominants, I have my work cut out for me. What's brain doesn't want to cooperate with me on this at all. It keeps feeding me bits of the paranormal erom I started earlier this year. Figures, doesn't it?

I finished up Annabel Joseph's Waking Kiss this week. Such a good book. I don't normally go for the BDSM as therapy trope. I have quite a few issues with it, but...Annabel pulled it off. I have a thing for flawed characters, throw in BDSM and ballet? Sold! This book did it for me in a big way. It's not as hardcore as some of her other novels. Even though the themes may be similar -- we've seen BDSM and ballet from her before --  each book has something new and fresh to offer. Go get this one. You won't be disappointed.

In other news, I joined Silken Sheets and Seduction's Summer Seduction Blog Hop which will take place on August 14th. Check out the awesome digital book bundle they'll be giving away.

If you haven't clicked on the recipe link above, what are you waiting for? Look at these! I'll be making them this week. Can't wait to dig in.

Lucky me - Vampire Mine by Aline Hunter

As some of you know, Aline Hunter / JA Saare is one of my crit partners. I had the pleasure of reading Vampire Mine in its early stages and I have to say, I think it's the best of the Omega series. Aline delivers everything we've come to expect from her edgy, paranormal series. For fans of this series, you won't be disappointed. If you haven't read Aline Hunter yet, what are you waiting for?

And how hot is this cover?

A bond as endless as time. Their forbidden union sealed in blood.
As the Alpha of New York, Trey Veznor placed the needs of his pack above everything—until the mate he’s waited centuries for waltzed into his life and gave him a taste of what he’d been missing. Sadie Dumus, seductive, beautiful and utterly captivating, is also something shifters avoid at all costs—a vampire. Stunned to learn of her nature, Trey turned his back on the only woman who could complete him.
Now, realizing he’s thrown away the one thing he can’t live without, Trey hunts Sadie down and defies tradition. Their sexual hunger is undeniable, with each sizzling encounter bringing them closer together. Sadie tries to resist but he refuses to allow it, using desire and her need for his blood to keep her close. With danger closing in, it’s necessary to announce his mating before the pack. To keep his female, he’s willing to lose everything he’s ever known.

A Firm Hand released today at Ellora's Cave. I'm afraid it's not on Amazon or at other book sellers just yet. I'll be sure to up date as soon as it becomes available.

A Firm Hand (Bound to You, #2)
BDSM Contemporary
Novel - 83,000 words
Release Date - June 26, 2013
Link - Ellora's Cave

Book two in the Bound to You series.

After a painful past, Brian Donovan can’t afford to get close to anyone, especially a submissive. His growing lust for a certain mouthy bartender has been easy to keep under wraps, at least until he catches her snooping through his files. Spanking her senseless was not one of his better ideas. Even worse, he entices her into a relationship based on power exchange—no sappy sentiments, no messy emotional entanglements, strictly dominance and submission. He doesn’t count on Genevieve being the one submissive who makes him want to feel again.

Gen Hawthorn’s life is a mess. She’s always late for work, can’t keep a boyfriend and has a closetful of family secrets. When her gorgeous boss offers her a kinky no-strings arrangement, she can’t say no. Being dominated by the star of all her dirty fantasies sounds like what she needs. She just has to remember his most important rule—don’t fall in love.

As their affair heats up, lines are crossed, tears are spilled and they discover just how difficult sticking to the rules can be.

No one does it like Annabel Joseph

So, my favorite BDSM author has a new book out. If you like good, kinky romance with a sense of realism Annabel Joseph is a must read. Check it out!

Heat level: mild to medium, some emotional triggers
A stranger in the wings, a traitorous pair of toe shoes, and a traumatic turn dancing with The Great Rubio… For ballerina Ashleigh Keaton, it’s been one hell of a night.
But it’s not over yet. When Rubio drags her to a private BDSM party at his friend’s house in the ritzy part of London, she meets Liam Wilder, a lifestyle dominant and frighteningly seductive man. Liam pursues Ashleigh, attracted by her strength and talent, but she has secrets—an abusive past and a crippling fear of intimacy that prevents her from connecting to anyone, especially a kinky playboy reputed to be legendary in bed.
Eventually he wins her trust and sets out to heal the troubled dancer, awakening her to a world of erotic obedience and sensual abandon in a series of “sessions” at his home. But how pure are his motives? Is he helping her or endangering her fragile soul? Liam hides his own destructive secrets, and so does Fernando Rubio, their temperamental friend. Over time the three become embroiled in a tangle of artifice, fears, and lies that threaten to undo everything they’ve worked for.
Will Ashleigh and Liam find the strength to defeat their demons? Or are they cursed to sleepwalk through life forever, afraid to experience the passion and intimacy of love?

Listen to this...

For me, music is a huge part of the writing process. When I'm not feeling particularly motivated, it can put me in exactly the place I need to be to dive into my manuscript. Sometimes it changes the tone of a scene or allows me to pull up the emotion needed for a certain facet of the book. I honestly don't think I could have finished A Firm Hand without musical inspiration. It impacted this story on so many levels so I thought I'd share the songs I listened to. I hope you enjoy them. Links are included.

a little taste

Excerpt from A Firm Hand

Brian stepped into the doorway of his office and was greeted by the loveliest thing he’d had the pleasure of seeing all day. Genevieve was bent over his desk with her backside to him. The curve of her ass peeked out from below the hem of her black shorts. Her tan legs were perfect lines of lean muscle. The boots she always wore—laced up to her knees with clunky platform heels—about killed him on a nightly basis. A worn, formfitting t-shirt completed her standard work attire. She showed just enough skin to make him a bit crazy, but never seemed as though she intended to dress provocatively. On purpose or not, she never failed to provoke certain parts of his anatomy.
Admittedly, she wasn’t his usual type. Christ, her choppy shoulder-length hair was pale pink. The color made her geeky black-framed glasses stand out in drastic contrast. On anyone else he’d have thought the look ridiculous. Genevieve made it so sexy it hurt to look at her.
He’d watched this tiny ball of fire strut around his bar with a huge chip on her shoulder for six months now. Keeping his growing need for her under wraps had been difficult, but not impossible, at least until now. He had a hard-on he could bust bottles with. His ironclad control was at the breaking point. The fact that she was snooping through his files made it easier for him to rationalize what he was about to do.
   Damn it.
He hadn’t wanted to cross this line with her. She was an employee and he’d always practiced a hands-off policy where they were concerned. But the delicious little display before him was far too tempting.
He reared back and slapped her right ass cheek. Hard. It was every bit as firm as he’d imagined.
She yelped and promptly dumped the contents of the file on the floor in front of the desk, paper scattering everywhere. She turned toward him, face flushed, mouth gaping in shock. But a spark of heat simmered in those beautiful rum-brown eyes of hers. There was more to his little rebel than sarcasm and tardiness.
They stood, staring at one another for a heated moment. The tension was so thick it was difficult to breathe.
   “What the hell, Brian?”
“I told you to wait in my office. I don’t remember giving you permission to look through my files.”
“I— I…fuck. It’s just my file. I wasn’t looking at anything else.” Her voice, although shaky, held the slightest edge of annoyance.
He wasn’t sure she was aware of it, but she’d pressed a hand over the spot where he’d spanked her, kneading it through her shorts. He hit her hard enough to make his palm tingle. He bet her ass felt the same stinging heat, one that was about to get worse.
“No. It’s my file, which you so graciously dumped all over my floor. Now get down on your hands and knees and clean it up.” The command in his voice felt good.
“What?” She looked at him as if he were psychotic.
“On your hands and knees and clean it up,” he barked.
Her mouth tightened and her eyes narrowed. He was all too familiar with that fuck-you look. She wore it often. “I don’t know who the—”
“It’s not a request. Do it. Now.” He raised his voice, drowning her out.
The poison in her glare would have killed him if things like that were possible. He could almost hear her cursing him in her head as she lowered herself to the ground and snatched up the papers one by one. The sight of her crawling around on the floor, pink hair in her face and glasses sliding down her nose, made his cock twitch. He was in trouble, deep, deep trouble. With each piece she retrieved, her movements slowed. She was almost catlike by the time she stretched across the floor to reach the last sheet in the corner. The little tease.
She sat back on her heels, in a nearly perfect submissive pose, and straightened the small stack. When she finished, she looked up at him from her position at his feet and handed him the contents of the file. The smile she wore as she pushed her glasses back into place was so full of mischief he had to bite back a groan. He was going to have his hands full with this one.
He set the file down on the desk. “On your feet.”
   She sighed as she stood.
   “I should fire you.”
A flash of pure panic registered on her face before she hid it beneath a mask of indifference.
“But I think I have something better in mind.”
   “And what would that be?”
He crowded into her space until they were inches apart. She took a step backward, bumping into the desk. Leaning in, he put both hands on the desktop alongside her hips. He had her right where he wanted her, trapped like prey. His intentions were devious and wrong, on more than one level. But at the moment he didn’t care. He wanted her and he would have her any way he could get her.
“I’m placing you on probation until further notice. From now on, each and every infraction will earn you a punishment. One of my choosing.”
